Boss Sauce

Don’t you just love the colors of this sauce ingredients spread out like this? Red, brown, white, gold. … They remind me of a warm night at an outdoor restaurant lined with colorful banners in Mexico. With this Boss Sauce, you will be the boss of any party. This sauce is reliable, versatile, and a party favorite. This base can complement a wide variety of your favorite dishes, giving ordinary meals a splash of flavor and fun. And the best part is, you can feel really good about eating it and feeding it to your family and friends because it’s good for you, too.

I invite you to follow along visually as I slowly add each ingredient into the blender where they will all be pummeled together into a creamy, nutty sauce. First, the cashews. Did you know that cashews are a great snack food that supports healthy levels of good cholesterol? Cashews are high in iron (ladies, we are perpetually low on iron as a group, so pay attention!). They also hearty and help create a sense of satiety. Like with everything, cashews are best consumed in moderation, but I hope that you find, as we have, the wide variety of uses for cashews and other nuts in fun variations.

Next we add the red peppers. Pepper are an excellent vegetable to eat plain or with hummus. I love the fresh crunch when you bite down. Besides that, though, red peppers are an excellent vegetable to add to a wide variety of dishes, and it helps give our Boss Sauce its pretty color and creamy texture.

You might be asking what is Nutritional Yeast? Nutritional Yeast has a strong flavor that is described as nutty or cheesy, which makes it popular as an ingredient in cheese substitutes. It provides a wealth of vitamins and minerals while at the same time adding a unique flavor to many dishes. You can find Nutritional Yeast at most grocery stores or click the link to find it on Amazon. Many health food stores carry it in the bulk department area.

I know it’s not looking pretty at this point in the blender, but trust me, it will all be worth it.

  • 1 ½ cups raw cashews
  • cup roasted red peppers
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • pinch of turmeric


  1. Place all the ingredients into a high-powered blender, process until smooth.
  2. Transfer to a sauce pan, heat Boss Sauce up on medium low on your stove top until warm. If you feel the sauce is too thick, just add a little water.
  3. Use in any recipe that calls for cheese sauce. Excellent over potatoes and steamed vegetables.
